Gamers all around the UK are eagerly awaiting the release of the next edition in the hugely popular series, Grand Theft Auto. GTA IV is due for release on the 29th April, and it’s bound to be on a lot of peoples ‘wish lists’.

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 4) has been much anticipated, mainly because everyone loves playing it. Part of the appeal could be that it has a more unconventional style of game play. It’s classed as a non-linear game because there is no set plan to follow, the game is completely open ended and will seem different to everyone who plays it.

What’s the story about this time?

The American Dream. For Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, the American Dream is the hope that he can escape from his past life. Niko’s cousin, Roman, wants it to be the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, the gateway to the land of opportunity. As they fall into debt, they are dragged in a criminal underworld by a series of cons, thieves and sociopaths, they soon find that the reality is very different from the dream. In a city that worships money and status, it is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don’t.

About Grand Theft Auto

The first Grand Theft Auto game was originally released in 1997 and has been a huge success every since. Set in the fictional city of Liberty, the series focuses on several characters trying to make it big in the criminal underworld. Each character has different motives for being involved, but the games consist of the same mix of action and adventure along with plenty of racing, driving (and crashing), and the occasional bit of role-play and stealth tactics.

They are usually rated an 18 because of their graphics and themes that can be a bit violent and adult based. The style of game-play is classed as ’sandbox’, essentially because it is an open-ended style of game and how you get from A to B depends a lot on each individual person playing the game.
